DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JANUARY 28, 2008

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, County Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met briefly with the Commissioners. Mr. Herman updated the Board on legal matters in the Prosecutor's office.

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on matters in the Engineer’s office. Warren advised that his office has ordered another 150 tons of salt so that they are ready for any winter weather that may still come.

Rick Edmunds, Superintendent, Good Samaritan School, and Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners to discuss roof repairs at Good Samaritan School. Rick advised that sections of the roof are in dire need of repair. Rick would like to see the repairs done during the summer when there are no students in the building. The Commissioners advised Rick that they would contact the architect and inform the architect to get in contact with Rick.

The Board of Commissioners attended the Four County Solid Waste District Board of Directors meeting at Williams County Commissioners office. Immediately following this meeting, the Four County Joint Board of Commissioners held their reorganizational meeting in the Williams County Commissioners office.

On Thursday, February 7, 2008, the “Help is Here Express” bus tour will be in the NOCAC-Path Center plaza parking lot from 10:00am – 2:00pm. The “Help is Here Express” is available to help uninsured and financially-struggling Ohioans access information on programs that provide prescription medicines for free or nearly free. This tour is sponsored by the Partnership for Prescription Assistance.
