DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2005

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio  43512 on Monday, February 7, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Alison Grimes, Clerk and Joan Brown, Deputy Clerk.  Becky Wagner, Administrator, was absent. 

 

 

8:30 a.m.      Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the County Prosecutor’s office, met with the Board to review any documentation pending his approval.  Mr. Herman is currently up-to-date on county paperwork.  At 8:46 a.m. the Board entered EXECUTIVE SESSION regarding Purchase/Sale of Property (ORC 121.22 (G) (2)).  EXECUTIVE SESSION ended at 8:59 a.m. with no decisions made – informational only.

 

 

9:00 a.m.      General Session      Commissioners approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

The Board approved and signed the 2005 Wood County Juvenile Detention Contract for the housing of Defiance County juveniles.  And on behalf of the Board, Commissioner Nicely signed the sub-grant award between the Office of Criminal Justice Services and the County Sheriff’s Office for $25,200 for the implementation of in-car cameras. 

 

Tina Hiler, Senior Services Center Director, called the Commissioners to let them know that the Auxiliary raised about $12,000 through the Heart Auction held Saturday.

 

 

10:00 a.m.    Warren Schlatter, County Engineer, met with the Board with a departmental update.  He presented a Permissive Tax map for the Board’s review which noted several changes.  The map is updated every two years.  The Board will review and take action at a later date. 

 

Mr. Schlatter also reviewed his department’s accumulated revenue for January 2005.

10:30 a.m.    Officials from the City, Mayor Bob Armstrong, Administrator Jeff Leonard, Law Director Dave Williams and Administrative Assistant Ann Scribner, met with the Commissioners for an update and review of various projects.  Also attending the meeting was Warren Schlatter, County Engineer and Jerry Hayes, Economic Development Director.  The

 

 

 

group reviewed various City/County projects, including the Express Sewer, Indian Bridge Lane, the widening of Route 66 and the new Johns-Manville plant.

 

 

1:30 p.m.      Commissioners held a study session during the afternoon to review the status of various projects.  Jerry Hayes, Economic Development Director, met briefly with the Board to review possible changes to enterprise zone agreement terms.

 

 

 

There being no further business to come before the Board, today’s meeting adjourned at 3:11 p.m.
