DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2006

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Thursday, February 9, 2006.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Thomas L. Kime.   Also present were Commissioners Richard L. Cromwell and Otto L. Nicely, Lyla Gurwell, Clerk.

 

8:30 A.M.     General Session - The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  Commissioners also reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

 

9:30 A.M.     Becky Wagner, Defiance County Administrator presented her weekly report to Commissioners.

 

Becky talked with Doug Engel about the Justice Center.  He said that they are working on bid specs and the remodel should start late February for the renovation and completed end of March.

 

Becky met with County Officials to review the Manatron agreement.  There are some changes that need to be made and Bob Arend, Arend Enterprises is going to work with Manatron on those changes.  Mr. Arend is going to come in during study session on Monday, February 13th to review the project with the Board of Commissioners before the final agreement is signed.

 

Becky also presented a quote to the Commissioners on placing panic buttons (for security purposes) in the new Defiance County East Building for the Board of Elections and the Veterans office.  Any additional buttons on first and second floors would be at an additional cost to the individual agency. 

 

10:30 A.M.    City of Defiance, Board of Control, Jeff Leonard, Dave Williams & John Seele came in to discuss the Elliott Road project along with Matt Gilroy of Defiance County Economic Development, Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney came in to discuss the Elliott Road project.

 

Dave Williams will draft an agreement between Defiance County Board of Commissioners and the City of Defiance that will be reviewed by Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Russ Herman.  The agreement will enable both public entities to share the responsibility for the cost of the work being done.

 

Jeff Leonard reported that Denny Cline, Engineering Technician for the City of Defiance has been reviewing force main issues for the project and has found a few areas where changes will need to be made and the road will need to be adjusted to accommodate the force main.

 

The Commissioners also discussed the possibility of installing the water line across both Elliott and Carpenter Roads to enable future development of businesses to have easy access to hook up to the waterline.

 

 

 

11:00 A.M.    Greg Reinhart, Director of Wastewater Operations came in to review his 2005 Financials. 

 

The Commissioners approved Resolutions for Delinquent Sewer Charges. Greg Reinhart will submit the names to the Defiance County Auditor for to be placed on the tax duplicate of the customer.

 

Greg also reported that there are 663 equivalent dwelling units in the Defiance County Sewer District and the number of sub-sewer accounts is approximately 620 and includes Beldens, Middle Gordon Creek, Auglaize Pines, Evansport and Express Sewer Districts.
