DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

NEWS RELEASE

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio  43512 on Thursday, February 13, 2003.  The meeting was called to order by Thomas Kime, Chairman.  Present were Thomas L. Kime, Commissioner; Otto L. Nicely, Commissioner; Richard L. Cromwell, Commissioner; Becky Wagner, Operations Manager; Alison Grimes, Clerk and Joan Brown, Deputy Clerk.   

 

General Session – Commissioners signed various resolutions and documents, approved a travel request, reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

Sherry Carnahan, Deputy Clerk, updated the Commissioners on various sewer projects and obtained signatures for various documents.  She also reviewed information regarding a list of items previously approved for purchase for the Wastewater Operations department. 

 

Becky Wagner, Operations Manager, presented a brief update of several meetings she has recently attended.   After a short discussion, Commissioners okayed a request from Sprint to perform a cost analysis on the County’s telephone system. 

 

Commissioners reviewed financial information they will present to government officials when they attend the NACo Conference at the end of this month.

 

Commissioners also approved the hiring of a new Maintenance Supervisor, Ron Cereghin. 

 

Randy Vogel, County Humane Agent, submitted his January, 2003 report.  His office responded to 114 complaints, took 28 dogs to the Animal Shelter, issued, 17 warnings of various types, logged 1,860 miles on the county vehicle and transported 1,260 pounds of euthanized animals to the Landfill.
