DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, MARCH 1, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Morris Murray, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners for an update.

 

Dennis Miller, Maumee Valley Planning Organization, and Morris Murray met with the Commissioners to discuss Chelsea Village.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for his weekly update.  Warren informed the Board that marking has began for the new aerial photography project.   Warren informed the Commissioners that Ohio Public Works Commission recently sent notification of award of funding for projects on Banner School Road, Canal Road, and Watson Road.  Banner School Road between Domersville Road and Adams Ridge Road is planned on being widened from 20’ to 24’.  The roadside ditch work is planned for summer 2010; pavement work is scheduled for 2011.  Watson Road between Harding Road and the bridge west of  SR 66 is planned to be widened.  The roadside ditch work started last year and will continue this year with the pavement work being planned for 2011.  Canal Road is planned to be widened with a modification of the curve at Jackson.

 

Les McCaslin, Four County ADAMhS Board, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Les informed the Board that his agency received a 36.8% budget cut last year.  All out patent mental health was eliminated from the State budget.

 

Amy Galbraith, Defiance County Clerk of Courts, met with the Commissioners to discuss scanning.

 

Ron Cereghin, Defiance County Maintenance, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Senior Center Project.
