D.        APPOINTMENTS

8:30 a.m.        General Session

9:30 a.m. – Becky Wagner, County Operations Manager/Administrator, met with the Commissioners to present her weekly report.   Mark Hopper, Public Safety Services, had advised her that several limbs were down and/or hanging from trees at the fairgrounds and needed to be removed.  Commissioners noted that the Fairboard was meeting at the Fairgrounds on Saturday to begin clean up and that the limb removal would be taken care of at that time.

As the Wastewater Operations Administrative Assistant’s workload has increased due to new sanitary sewer projects and additional billing, Doug Rath requested, through Becky, that the Assistant’s hours be changed to a 40-hour work week, up from 35 hours per week.  Commissioners okayed the request.

She also informed the Commissioners that Marge McCurdy, Maintenance Supervisor, reported that the windows for the Sheriff’s Department were ordered and should be delivered late March or early April.  All the carpeting has been replaced and the painting is completed except for a new back door that will be painted as soon as weather permits.  Ms. McCurdy is also getting quotes for some sidewalk repair.    Two roof leaks were discovered at Evergreen Lane during the latest snowstorm.  Richland and Associates has been contacted to check the roof for necessary repairs.  It does not leak during rainstorms.

10:00 a.m.      Matt Cordonnier, Planner, Maumee Valley Planning Organization, met to open bids for the Ney Power Generator.  The generator would be used to remove floodwater.  Although several prospective bidders picked up documents, no bids were received.  Commissioners advised Matt to contact Mark Hopper, Public Safety Services Coordinator, to see who supplied the power generator for that facility.

11:00 a.m.      Commissioner Kime traveled to Henry County to meet with the Health Insurance Consortium in which Defiance County used to be a member to review reports.  Commissioner Nicely attended the Debris Management Course in progress at the Public Safety Services facility.

1:30 p.m.        Ric Hageman, Stryker, the potential bid award recipient for the cash rental of County farmground, met with the Commissioners for a question and answer period and to review the lease.  Mr. Hageman was high bidder at $25,986.00.

Meeting adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
