DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, MARCH 14, 2005

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio  43512 on Monday, March 14, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Becky Wagner, Administrator; Alison Grimes, Clerk and Joan Brown, Deputy Clerk.      

 

8:30 a.m.      Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Board to review any documents currently at his office for review.  Mr. Herman is up-to-date on county documents at this time. 

 

9:00 a.m.      General Session      Commissioners approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

Commissioners signed the documentation for the Solid Waste District’s February Fee Pay-In report which noted the following:

 

          In-district tonnage              7,542.80

          Out-of-district tonnage          603.42

          Out-of-state tonnage               53.70

 

Total amount due to the District for February is $8,857.04. 

 

10:00 a.m.    Warren Schlatter, County Engineer, met with the Board for several bid openings.  Also attending the meeting was: Jeff Wiemken, Miller Brothers Construction; Randy Varner, Fort Defiance Construction; George Kaiser, R. G. Zachrich Construction; Joe Westhoven, D. G. Slurry Seal; Joe Dreier, B. Hill’z Excavating and Thomas Frantz, Eagle Brothers Construction.

 

CRACK SEAL PROGRAM

BANNER SCHOOL/CHRISTI ROAD BRIDGE PROJECT

Engineer’s estimate for the project is $413,505.75

 

The Board accepted the bids as presented and will award them after review and recommendation from the Engineer.

 

 

At 10:30 a.m., Commissioners left for an informational meeting with the Paulding County Commissioners at their offices regarding the Eagle Creek/Wilson Ditch project.  Tony Burkley, Paulding County Commissioner was elected Chair for the Joint Board; Joanne Goerlitz, Paulding County Clerk, was appointed to act as Clerk for the Joint Board.  The ditch viewing was set for April 11 at 11:00 a.m. and the Public Hearing will be held June 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paulding County Extension Building at the Fairgrounds.

 

The Boards also discussed the Joint Auglaize River Sewer Project.  The Boards are continuing to look for additional funding to help offset costs of the project.

 

 

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
