Ø      JOURNAL #129, RESOLUTION #02-03-142

10:00 a.m.      Tom Stambaugh, William Kibbe and Associates, an engineering and architectural firm in Defiance, met with the Commissioners to introduce himself and his company’s services.  Their home office is in Saginaw, Michigan, but they recently opened a branch office in Defiance.  The company has approximately 130 employees.  The company is interested in working with the County regarding water, sewer and/or architectural projects and asked to be notified if any projects arise.  Commissioners suggested he introduce himself to Gaylon Davis, County Engineer.

10:30 a.m.      Ric Hageman, Stryker, the bid award recipient for the cash rental of County farmground, met with the Commissioners to sign the lease contract documents.  Mr. Hageman was high bidder at $25,986.00.   He had several more questions regarding the contract, then signed the documents.  He will obtain signatures from his wife and then return the documents for the Commissioner’s signatures.

10:50 a.m.      Jim Wagner, former Defiance County Commissioner, stopped in to examine the tentative Courthouse renovation/addition pictures and add his input.

11:15 a.m.      Kim Moss, County Health Commissioner, met with the Commissioners regarding various issues.  Lack of sufficient office space was one topic.  Her department is very cramped and space is at a premium.  Ms. Moss has met with her Board regarding various possibilities.  Commissioners suggested she examine an area of property out by the Evergreen Lane Office Complex.   Landfill inspections were also discussed.  Both the Health Department and the OEPA currently inspect landfills, which appears somewhat redundant for the Health Department.  The OEPA now allows health departments the option to choose whether to inspect landfills or not.  Ms. Moss also asked about the status of the Indian Bridge Lane Project – a project that has been in a holding status for some time.  Commissioners will contact Poggemeyer Design Group for more current project information and then see about setting up another public hearing for Indian Bridge Lane residents to review the latest information.

Meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
