DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, MARCH 29, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners recently received an update on the NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card Program.  In February 2010, 193 Defiance County residents utilized the program for a total savings of $3,716.43.

 

Karen Tubbs, Defiance County Treasurer, met with Commissioners for the 1st Quarter Investment Advisory Meeting.  The Defiance County Investment Portfolio, Landfill Closure Portfolio and Post Closure Portfolio were approved.

 

Ed Flynn, Herb Retcher, Tom Breininger, Steve Zachrich, Defiance Fair Foundation, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on the grandstand project.

 

Representatives from the City of Defiance and the Defiance Development and Visitors Bureau met with the Commissioners to discuss the Courtesy Docks.  A meeting will be set up at a later date to meet with the project engineer.

 

Defiance County residents with PO boxes should have received census information directly from a person, not via mail.  If those people with PO boxes do not receive forms delivered to them, forms are available at Northwest Ohio Job Center at Defiance County East.  There is also a census person available at Northwest Ohio Job Center to provide assistance on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
