COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session
at 8:30 a.m. in the
Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville,
Ohio on Thursday, April 5, 2007. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners
Thomas L. Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner,
County Administrator and Joanne
Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.
Debra Bloomfield, Deputy Clerk was present during the late morning
portion of the session.
General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various
resolutions and documents for approval. The
Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, and reviewed
and updated the calendar of events.
At 10:18 a.m. regular session was
resumed in the Conference Room of the Defiance County
Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.
Defiance County Administrator, Becky Wagner,
presented her report to the Commissioners. Becky updated the Commissioners that Julie Fowler and Paula Fairchild, Public Safety
Services, are working with Ohio EMA on the Emergency Management Performance
grant.
Tim Houck, Environmental
Services Director, updated the Board of Commissioners on the Landfill trenching
project with work to begin in the near future.
11:00 a.m. - Jerry Hayes and
Isaac Lee, Economic Development, updated the Commissioners on the Gordon Creek
Granite, LLC Enterprise Zone Agreement.
Gordon Creek Granite, LLC will construct a new building on a land parcel
located on Industrial Drive,
Hicksville, Ohio. The investment in the new building will be
approximately $200,000, with an approximate $550,000 invested in machinery,
inventory and equipment. Gordon Creek
Granite will create 10 permanent full-time jobs. The Commissioners approved the Enterprise
Zone Agreement.
The Commissioners attended a public involvement meeting for the
Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) at the Allen County
Regional Planning Commission Office in Lima,
Ohio, on Thursday afternoon. District One of the Ohio Department of
Transportation held an informal "Open House" public meeting to
discuss and receive public comment on the STIP.
The City Board of Control met with the Board of County Commissioners on
Wednesday, April 4 in the Commissioners' conference room to discuss commercial
building inspections. Attorneys will be
working on preparation of a contract.
