COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The
Board of
Russ
Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the
Commissioners for an update.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance
County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for his weekly update. Warren presented his 2010 Accumulated Revenue
Report. Through March, 2010, the
accumulated revenue is $1,004,822.02 compared to $1,002,323.07 for 2009 and
$1,061,225.48 for 2008. Warren informed
the Commissioners that Evansport Road south of Banner School Road is closed
this week for a culvert replacement. The
Bend Road is now open; it had been closed north of C.R. 424 for bridge approach
work.
The
Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various
resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Representatives from the
Defiance County Humane Society met with the Commissioners for an update. They informed the Board that adoptions are
going well and is expecting many more animals being brought in due to the season. They also informed the Board that the 16th
Annual Monte Carlo Night is Saturday, April 10th from 7:00 pm until
11:30 pm at the Defiance Eagles.
Proceeds for the event will support the animal shelter.
Several citizens attended
the meeting to voice their concerns regarding the adoption procedures. The Humane Society Board and employees
assured the Commissioners that they are working on informing all volunteers and
employees the proper protocol and ensuring the procedures for adoptions are
uniform.
Rick Weaver, Poggemeyer
Design Group, Mayor Bob Armstrong, Jeff Leonard and Lee Rausch, City of
Defiance, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Courtesy Boat Dock Project.
The Commissioners recently
received the March 2010 report from Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County
Recorder. Cecilia reported that during
March the following instruments were filed:
132 deeds, 187 mortgages, 171 releases, 6 liens and 9 power of attorney
forms. Cecilia reported total receipts
of $24,990.00; of which $12,205.00 went to the Housing Trust Fund and
$10,841.00 went to the general fund.
