DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, APRIL 11, 2005

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio  43512 on Monday, April 11, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; and Joan Brown, Deputy Clerk.       

 

8:30 a.m.      Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Board to review documents sent to his office for approval.  Currently, Mr. Herman is up-to-date on county documents. 

 

 

General Session      Commissioners approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

 

9:25 a.m.     The Commissioners traveled to the Paulding County Commissioners’ office for a meeting concerning the Eagle Creek/Wilson Ditch project.   The joint board met in Paulding County and passed a resolution abolishing a joint board for the above project.  Also, the Board discussed the Auglaize Sewer project and whether Paulding County has received a notice from the USEPA concerning grant money.  

 

The Commissioners jointly reviewed how the 20% reduction in local government funds would affect Defiance and Paulding Counties, as well as townships, villages and cities in the respective counties.   Also, both Boards are awaiting clarification from the state of Ohio how they could retain 10% of the local government funds by combining various local services.  

 

 

11:00 a.m.    Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Board with his weekly update.   Egler Road, between Gerken and Coressel Roads will be closed for approximately two weeks, weather permitting, for a bridge replacement.  Work is continuing on various roads in preparation for paving projects.  

 

1:30 p.m.      Perry Corporation was scheduled for a document scanning presentation at this time but was cancelled.    

 

 

The Commissioners plan to attend the Fairboard meeting Tuesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Secretary’s office at the fairgrounds.
