The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street,
Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner Otto L.
Nicely called the meeting to order. Also
present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James Harris, Sherry Carnahan,
Deputy Clerk, and Debra Bloomfield, Deputy Clerk.
General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various
resolutions and documents for approval.
The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings,
and reviewed and updated the calendar of events.
Becky Wagner, Defiance County
Administrator, updated the Board on the last safety committee meeting. They
Board appointed the current members to a one-year term, beginning January 1,
2007. It was presented to the Board that
Environmental Services and Maintenances would like to rehire the seasonal temp
employee that has worked the past 3 years.
Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden updated the Board
on last month’s statistics. His office has been very busy. They received a
total of 127 compliant calls for the month of March. He reported that thirty-five
dogs were taken to the shelter. This was an increase over last month. There
were also twenty-two citations issued.
Tim Houck, Defiance County
Landfill Manager, opened bids for the BAT Construction Phase 1. Three bids were
received:

The Engineer's estimate for the project was: Base Bid - $1,767,607.70; Alternate Bid - $177,000.00 The Board accepted the bids for
review.
The Joint Board of Commissioners, Defiance
and Williams Counties, met with interested property
owners and the Soil and Water Conservation District Boards concerning the Lick
Creek Project at 1:00 p.m. at the Williams County Commissioners Office. The
joint Board of Commissioners made a recommendation to the project Engineer,
Dennis Bell, Williams
County, for removal of
log jams and stabilization of the curves and banks only.
At 1:30 p.m., the Lost Creek Project was discussed. On further review by the Boards of
Commissioners and a recommendation from the joint Board of Soil and Water
Conservation of Williams and Defiance
Counties, Commissioners voted
to proceed with bidding the Lost Creek project.
