COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY,
APRIL 21, 2008
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session
at 8:30 a.m. on Monday,
April 21, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court
Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to
order. Also
present was Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura
Howell, County Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk, and Julie Voll, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and
signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel
requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for his weekly update. Warren requested approval
of a Force Account to widen the base on Mansfield Rd. between Kinner Road and Defiance-Henry County Line Road.
Warren stated that McCavit Road should
be opening this week. Once crews are done on McCavit, they will move to Beerbower Road, 3/10 of a mile
west of Ridenour, and close the road for a bridge replacement. Warren advised that the Farmer-Mark Tile
project has been completed; however, there are a few items that need to be
completed before final assessments can be sent out to the affected landowners.
Greg Reinhart,
Wastewater Director, met with the Commissioners to provide an update. Greg
submitted his monthly income and expense report. He also advised that the pump
at the EMA building had a seal the failed. He pulled the pump and should be
finished with the repairs this week. Greg continues to work on getting quotes
for smoke testing on St. Rt. 66 sewer and fixing the pumps at the Auglaize
Pines pump station.
The Commissioners
attended the Northwest Ohio Commissioners and Engineers Association meeting in Mercer County
yesterday afternoon.
The Defiance County Commissioners and Williams County
Commissioners will be having a Joint Board of Commissioners meeting on
Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Defiance County EMA building to
make a determination on the Lick Creek Ditch Project.
