The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30
a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010 in the Hicksville Village Council Room,
Hicksville, Ohio. Chairman James E. Harris, Jr.
called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely
and Thomas L. Kime, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Laura Howell, Defiance County Administrator,
met with the Commissioners for her weekly report and project updates. Laura provided the following department
updates:

Maintenance. Ron Cereghin reported that at Spencer School
they piped the plumbing for the sump pit in the basement outside, replaced 5
tread caps on the Commissioners’ stairs; they are repairing the basement floor
in the Courthouse, and replaced a fan motor on an air conditioning unit at the
Engineer’s office.

Dog Warden. Randy Vogel reported for the week of
April 23-29 the dog warden’s office handled 37 complaints, 14 were dogs running
at large, 4 complaints were humane calls and 3 were pit bulls running at large.

Wastewater. Greg Reinhart reported that he fixed
the Auglaize Pines blower and aerator lines.
Jean Zeigler met
with the Commissioners to discuss the history of the Former Jail Building. Jean, the former county Jail matron, lived in
the building when it was the Sheriff’s residence and County Jail. Jean will work with the Commissioners to
provide some history of the building for the renovation project.
The Commissioners
will be attending the Sherwood Area Economic Development meeting on Friday, May
8th.
