The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

Rick Edmonds, Superintendent of Good Samaritan School, met with the Commissioners to discuss placing the 1.9 mill replacement levy on the ballot in November for the purpose of community mental retardation and developmental disabilities programs and services, including Good Samaritan School Early Intervention Services, Adult Services, Residential Services, Service Coordination, and Transportation.  After much discussion over the past three monthly board meetings, the Defiance County Board of Developmental Disabilities made a decision at last week's board meeting to request that the Board of Commissioners place the 1.9 mill levy on the November ballot as a replacement levy.  The Commissioners will take this under advisement and make a decision at a later date.

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Warren informed the Commissioners that due to inclement weather on Saturday, the crack sealing contractor was not able to complete sealing the parking lot behind the Commissioners’ office.  Weather permitting; this will be completed Monday night.  Crack sealing and patching work continues on roads throughout the County.  The highway crew started on a culvert replacement for a township on Lockwood Road east of Farmer-Mark Road.  Warren also presented his 2010 accumulated revenue report.   Through April 30, 2010 the accumulated revenue was $1,361,659.16 compared to $1,347,423.05 for 2009.

Jerry Overmier, Beilharz Architects, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Courthouse ADA improvements project.  Jerry will continue to work on the plans.
