DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, MAY 12, 2005

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio  43512 on Thursday, May 12, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioner Richard L. Cromwell; Becky Wagner, Administrator; Alison Grimes, Clerk and Joan Brown, Deputy Clerk. 

 

 

8:30 a.m.      General Session      Commissioners approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

Commissioners reviewed and signed the Solid Waste District Fee Pay-In report for April which noted the following:

 

          In-District tonnage             8,128.77

          Out-of-District tonnage          836.03

          Out-of-State tonnage              42.53

 

          Total tonnage                    9,007.33

 

Total amount due to the District for the month of April is $9,885.89.

 

At 9:15 a.m., Dave Branson and Bonnie Kaemming, on behalf of the Senior Center Auxiliary, stopped in to talk to the Board about the yearly Senior Services Heart Auction, which is held in February.  Tina Hiler, Center Director, has chaired the event for the last few years and, with all her other duties, is finding it difficult to spend an appropriate amount of time on the project.  Mr. Branson is interested in taking over the Heart Auction chair position and asked the Board for their approval.  Mrs. Hiler is willing to work with Mr. Branson and Ms. Kaemming to explain what needs to be done.  The Board gave their approval.

 

  

9:30 a.m.      Becky Wagner, County Administrator, presented the following for the Board’s review:

 

v    A meeting has been set for Wednesday, May 18 at 8:30 a.m. with Jerry Overmier, Defiance County-East Project Architect, Beilharz Architects, to tour the county facility on East Second Street and be available to answer any questions.  Renovations to the building are estimated to be completed in August.

 

v    Departments moving into Defiance County-East have been notified of their new addresses so they may begin changing their stationery.

 

v    She reviewed KeyBank building updates sent by Marshall Tharpe, KeyBank Facility Manager, for the Board’s review and approval, which include hardware that provides

 

 

 

 

 

audio and visual communication to the tellers inside via a small closed-circuit television screen.   

 

 

10:30 a.m.    Tim Houck, scheduled to present his Landfill update at this time, cancelled and rescheduled for Monday, May 23 at 1:30 p.m.
