COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, MAY 21, 2007
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on
Monday, May 21, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance
County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner Thomas L. Kime called the
meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioner James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator
and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met briefly today to approve various documents. The Commissioners also reviewed upcoming
meetings.
Commissioner Nicely attended the H.B. 694 Training Seminar in Marysville, OH. The Seminar was hosted by the County
Commissioners Association of Ohio, the Ohio Township Association, the County Auditor's
Association of Ohio and the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association. H.B. 694 requires vendors to certify to
counties and other political subdivisions that they have not made campaign
contributions, in an amount that exceeds the limits provided by the law, to
holders of offices that have responsibility for awarding contracts to the
vendors. The law was effective April 4,
2007 and applies to any contract that has a value of more than $500.00. The seminar was held to help answer questions
about implementing the new requirements of H.B. 694.
Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris attended the Northwest Ohio
Legislative Breakfast at the Defiance Regional Medical
Center hosted by the Family &
Children First Council's of Defiance,
Hardin, Henry, Putnam and Williams counties.
Participants learned about the programs, goals and outcomes of Ohio
Family & Children First and how the agency can serve as a resource for
legislative officials. The goal is to
open lines of communication and work together to create stronger communities
and better lives for children and families in N.W. Ohio.
