DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio  43512 on Thursday, May 26, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Alison Grimes, Clerk and Joan Brown, Deputy Clerk. 

 

 

8:30 a.m.      General Session      During a light agenda, Commissioners approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

 

9:30 a.m.      Mark Hopper, Doug Engel and Vicki Lantz, members of the County’s Safety Committee, met with the Board to present information concerning a county confined space policy.  The sub-committee reviewed the draft of a permit-required confined space program and asked the Board for their approval, if acceptable.  If approved, confined space training will be provided on June 7 for specific county employees who work in or around Defiance County’s permit-required confined spaces.  The Board approved the policy and thanked the sub-committee for their commitment to safety for county employees.   

 

 

10:30 a.m.    Jerry Hayes, Defiance County Economic Development Director, met briefly with the Board to submit the Manville Subdivision plat for the Board’s signatures.  They asked that he first get the Engineer’s approval before signing.

 

 

Noon             A CIC meeting was held at Charlie’s Down Under.
