DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio on Thursday, June 7, 2007.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator and Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk.  Sherry Carnahan, Deputy Clerk, was present for the session at the Defiance location.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, and reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

 

The Defiance County Department of Job & Family Services is offering assistance to Defiance County qualified low-income, working families through the issuance of pre-paid gasoline cards. Becky Wagner, County Administrator presented her weekly update to the Board. Becky reported that she will be receiving a quote for the installation of 5-foot platforms separated by landscape timbers to lessen the slope at the West High canoe launch site.

 

Ken Maag, Poggemeyer Design Group reported the sewer work on Elliott Road will begin today.

 

Lisa Karcher, Maumee Valley Planning Organization met with the Board to open bids for the Village of Hicksville Waterline Improvement Project. The engineer’s estimate was $35,000.  The following bids were received: Lingvai Excavating, Bryan, OH - $28,165.00, David Price Excavating, Fort Jennings, OH - $35,544.00, H & K Construction Services, Sidney, OH - $28,848.00, Jones Excavating, Geneva, IN - $32,680.50, Bercot, Inc., Ft. Wayne, IN - $37,663.00 and All Purpose Contracting, Inc., Delphos, OH - $32,253.60. The Board will take the bids under advisement for further review.
