DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JUNE 7, 2010

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Vice -Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Erin Speith, Probate/Juvenile Court, met with the Commissioners to get authorization for the printing costs of the 2009 Juvenile Court Annual Report.  The printing costs are paid by the juvenile probation department.  The Commissioners gave authorization for the printing costs.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Tina Hiler, Defiance County Senior Services, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Tina reported that after the success of the garage sale at Northtowne Mall; Senior Services was invited back to do the event again next year.

 

Marlene Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor, and Rick Hoffman, attorney, met with the Commissioners in executive session to discuss possible litigation.

 

The Joint Board of Commissioners of Defiance and Paulding Counties met to review and approve 2011 joint ditch assessments.  Kevin Hancock, Defiance County Soil & Water, reviewed the 2011 Joint ditch inspection assessment list.

 

Ed Flynn, Steve Zachrich, Chad Peter, Tom Breininger & Herb Retcher, Fair Foundation, and Morris Murray & Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to discuss the grandstand project.  The Fair Foundation reported having approximately $800,000.00 committed to the project with several grants pending.

 

Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder, recently provided a report for May 2010.  The total instruments filed were as follows: Deeds – 126, Mortgages – 172, Releases – 132, Liens – 14, Power of Attorney – 3, Leases – 2.  Cecilia reported $22,020.00 in total receipts, of which $11,671.00 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $9,652.50 went to the General Fund.
