DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Vice-Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners approved the Area Office on Aging PASSPORT Provider Agreement for July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2012.  Senior Services wishes to provide meals and transportation to Defiance County individual who are 60 and older and reside in Defiance County and are part of PASSPORT or the PASSPORT “Choices” program.  PASSPORT is a Medicaid waiver program that assists people in accessing home-based services.  “Choices” is very similar to the PASSPORT program, except that the person receiving the care, not the PASSPORT staff, chooses who administers their care.

 

The Commissioners approved the SFY 2010 Revised Help Me Grow Subsidy Agreement for the funding period of July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 (SFY 2011) for a continuation of the State’s General Revenue Funding amount for Defiance County with an allocation of $102,325.00.

 

The Commissioners approved the Title IV E contract with Adriel for the provision of child placement and related services and the SFY2011 Child Care Administrative and Quality Daycare Agreement with Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, provided her weekly update to the Board.  Laura reported that notice was received from the Federal Aviation Administration that they have agreed to fund in whole the base and alternate portions of Phase II of the Defiance County Airport Project.  Grading and drainage was the base portion; asphalt was the alternate. The total cost of the project is under $680,000 and the 5% local match is under $35,000.

 

Laura also reported that the Northwest Ohio’s River Region has a website for information www.nwohioriverregion.com.   The website has information on the River Region Splash events for June 25, 26 & 27, 2010 for Defiance, Henry and Paulding Counties as well as individual County events throughout the year.
