COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, JUNE 14, 2010
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners
Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio
43512. Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioner Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie
Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with
the Commissioners for an update.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren informed the Commissioners that
Jericho is now open; it had been closed for an emergency culvert
replacement. Weather permitting, road
side grading work will begin this week on Banner School Road between Domersville Road and Adams Ridge Road and the patching
contractor will continue their work.
Greg Reinhart,
Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners for an
update. Greg informed the Commissioners
that the following repairs have been done:
fixed Auglaize Pines blower and aerator lines, pulled and cleaned EMA
pump and check valves twice, cleaned floats at DMP
and Breckler Road pump stations, installed new blower
belt at Evergreen Lane, jetted return sludge line at Evansport.
Niki Warncke and Matt Davis, Maumee Valley
Planning Organization, met with the Commissioners for the second Public Hearing
for FY 2010 CDBG Community Development Program. The county is
eligible for the following funding under the FY 2010 CDBG
Community Development Program, provided the county meets applicable program
requirements: Formula Allocation - $91,000; Microenterprise Business
Development - $50,000. On February 1,
2010, the first public hearing was conducted to inform citizens about programs
administered by OHCP.
Based on citizen input and assessment of need by local officials, the
county is considering the following CDBG activities
for the FY 2010 CDBG

Development program
Marlene Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor, met with the Commissioners to approve and sign a $39,050.00 bond anticipation note for 1) $32,500 Lost Creek Ditch Bond Anticipation Notes, Third (2010) Renewal and (2) $6,550 Highland Ditch Bond Anticipation Notes, Fourth (2010) Renewal.
The Joint
Board of Commissioners of Defiance and Paulding Counties met at Paulding County
to review and approve the 2011 Joint Ditch Maintenance Assessments for the
joint ditches maintained by Paulding County.
