The Board of
General Session –
The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for
approval. Commissioners also reviewed
agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and reviewed and updated the calendar
of events.
Defiance County
Administrator Becky Wagner presented her report to the Board.
Becky reported she
received a request from
Becky also reported
on the Health Department. They recently
held their pandemic meeting and presented a video on the impact of a
pandemic. Kim Moss, the Director asked
to put a core group of people together representing local government agencies
such as hospitals, schools, law enforcement, and fire/rescue.
Randy Vogel,
Randy reported dog
license sales were up. 7,000 dog tags
were sold requiring him to order additional tags.
Randy reported his
office received 142 complaints. Dog
bites are up this spring; currently at 7.
Dogs running at large are at 67 for the month of May.
The number of dogs
taken to the shelter for the month of May was at 38, the number of warnings
written was 24 and the number of citations given was at 22.
Randy reported the
miles driven for the month of May were at 2,682 and stated he made one trip to
the landfill and disposed of 640 pounds of euthanized animals.

In 2005 a joint
board of county commissioners was formed to proceed with this project. In March of 2005, the joint board of county
commissioners authorized Dennis Bell to proceed with preliminary engineering at
a cost of approximately $28,000. The cost to date including inspections and
report compilation is approximately $4,000.
