MONDAY, JUNE 18, 2007
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on
Monday, June 18, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance
County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the
meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner,
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the
Commissioners to update them on pending issues at the Prosecutor's office.
The Board received the May, 2007 Activity Report from Jean Ziegler,
Clerk of Courts. Jean reported
collecting Legal fees of $14,181.13 and Title Fees of $6,001.11. The Certificate of Title Administrative Fund
is at $11,144.95. Jean also reported
deposits for the following: Legal Fees of $66,397.73 and Title Fees of
$517,891.40. The Sales or Use and
Dealers Tax collected were $486,332.53 and Watercraft Tax collected was
$2,940.07. The number of Titles issued
was 2,579, number of Notation of Liens 611 and number of Inspections was 541.
Warren Schlatter came before the Board for an update.
Greg Reinhart met with the Board and submitted his income and expense
report for May 2007 for Wastewater Operations.
Elizabeth Miceli came before the Board to discuss bond financing for the
Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio Project.
The project is in the amount of $1,500,000 which will be used to
purchase a building in
Kim Moss of the Defiance County Health Department and the Defiance City
Board of Control met with the Commissioners to discuss a county wide building
department. Discussion included pros and
cons of a county wide building department and further discussion will take
place at a later date.
Morris Murray, Director of the Defiance County Child Support Enforcement
Agency, met with the Board to discuss the IV-D Service Contract. At the meeting, the Commissioners approved
the contract for probation services for offenders convicted of criminal non-support
of dependents.
Sally King, Director of Sara's House, Defiance County Prosecutor Jeff
Strausbaugh, and Amy Galbraith, met with the Board to discuss preliminary
stages of a new location for Sara's House.
More information is needed before a decision is made.
