DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JUNE 19, 2006

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Monday, June 19, 2006.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner’s Richard L. Cromwell, Otto Nicely, County Administrator Becky Wagner, Clerk Lyla Gurwell, and Deputy Clerk Joanne Goerlitz.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  Commissioners also reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

 

The Commissioners received a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Rod Brown during the General Session.  Rod & Linda worked on the images that are displayed at the Defiance County East building.  They brought in a photo album with prints used at the Office Complex.  The photo album will be displayed at the Defiance County Commissioners Office, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, OH.

 

Defiance County Engineer, Warren Schlatter came in to discuss updates to the Thoroughfare Plan.  The Board of Commissioners approved the changes and Warren indicated the changes will be posted on his web site.

 

Warren also discussed the Glenburg Road Bridge.  Warren mentioned the guardrail will be installed on Friday of this week.  The bridge is currently being paved and the bridge will reopen on Friday, June 23, 2006

 

Warren also mentioned work will begin on the Harper Road Bridge next week.  The bridge is located north of Allen Road and will be closed for two weeks beginning June 26, 2006.

 

Warren advised the Commissioners of intent to install 12” Water Main, Sanitary Sewer and Manhole covers on Elliott Road.  After further discussion with the Commissioners, Warren also mentioned that he checked the Ohio Department of Transportation’s website for their summary of awarded contracts for this type of work.  The Commissioners felt the price quoted by Schumm Plumbing & Heating was reasonable and Warren was advised to proceed with the project.

 

Jim Harris from Soil & Water came in to discuss inspection assessments and Ditch Maintenance for 2007.  The Commissioners reviewed the Ditch Maintenance Inspection Assessment Report for Year 2007.  The Commissioners will need to meet with the three adjoining counties before they can certify the report to the Defiance County Auditor.

 

Dennis Miller, Director of Maumee Valley Planning and Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney came in to discuss a new Senior Housing project. Further discuss on this project will need to follow.
