DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 2007

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk and Sherry Carnahan, Deputy Clerk.

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval. The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

Karen Tubbs – Treasurer and Marlene Goodwin – Auditor were in to sign one year notes for the Highland Ditch and Lost Creek Projects.

Becky Wagner, County Administrator presented her weekly update to the Board. She reported that the maintenance staff is continuing to water the new grass at Defiance County East. The section of the walking trail that was moved should be repaired today. Becky reported that Sherry Carnahan and she met with Marlene Goodwin – Auditor on House Bill 694 – Campaign Contributions. An Elected Officials meeting will be set at a later date to go over House Bill 694. Becky reported that interviews for the replacement of the Board’s Clerk are continuing. She also reported we received a request from the Census Bureau for employment numbers for the County. This has been filled out and sent back.

Randy Vogel, Dog Warden, presented his monthly update to the Board. For the month of May, his office received 194 complaints. Of these complaints, 119 were within the City. There were 32 citations issued and 49 dogs were taken to the shelter. There have been 72 kennel and 6,955 licenses sold to date.

Jerry Overmier, Beilharz Architects, Inc, was in to update the Board on cost estimates for building renovations and/or construction. The Board will discuss these at a later date.

The Board met with Henry County Commissioners to approve the joint ditch assessments for 2008.
