DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JULY 15, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners entered into contract with Tenmile Creek Excavating, LLC. for the 2010 Cement Stabilization and Chip Seal Project for the Defiance County Engineer in the amount of $73,980.00. 

 

Laura Howell, Defiance County Administrator, met with the Commissioners for her weekly report and project updates.  Laura provided the following department updates:

            Records Center: Rhonda Casler reported that they have finished scanning the Marriage Records from 1845 to 2009 and this project included 49 volumes of records and 30,087 images.

            Maintenance: Ron Cereghin reported that they are painting cross walks and parking spaces on County lots.

            Public Safety: Julie Rittenhouse reported that the Extremely Hazardous Substance Facility Survey was completed on Diehl, GM and Ney Water Treatment Plant.

 

Karen Tubbs, Defiance County Treasurer, met with Commissioners for the 2nd Quarter Investment Advisory Meeting.  The Defiance County Investment Portfolio, Landfill Closure Portfolio and Post Closure Portfolio were approved.

 

Tina Hiler, Defiance County Senior Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Tina reported that the Senior Services will be providing a box lunch, ice cream and entertainment from Bette’s Polka Band at the Ball Summer Fest on Saturday, July 17th, 2010 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at the Multi-purpose Building.

 

The Commissioners attended the Defiance County Township Trustees Quarterly Meeting at the EMA Building.
