DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk and Sherry Carnahan, Deputy Clerk.     

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

 

Jack Graf, Interim Director of Job & Family Services was in to update the Board on operations and personnel.

 

Becky WagnerCounty Administrator, presented the Board with her weekly update. Becky reported she is working with several elected officials to update their job descriptions in order to comply with House Bill 187 (Civil Service).She also reported that Ron Cereghin, Maintenance Supervisor, is continuing to landscape and seed at the Defiance County East Building. Becky had the Board review a cover letter and affidavit concerning House Bill 694 the Auditor’s Office would like to send out to vendors that all the County Elected Officials use. Becky reported that the Senior Center has two drivers that have resigned. The Board gave the approval for Tina Hiler, Director, to complete the pre-employment testing on two replacements. Tina Mohring – Family & Children First Director, advised Becky that all mandatory Family and Children First members have paid their dues. The new invoices for 2007 Fiscal year dues will go out the end of July.

 

Greg Reinhart – Wastewater Director and Jan Roehrig presented their monthly update to the Board.

 

Russ Herman – Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and Ryan Brieninger, Attorney at Law discussed the Fair Foundation. This organization is being assembled to raise money to build a new grandstand at the Defiance County Fairgrounds. The Board reviewed a draft of the bylaws and will make suggestions to Mr. Brieninger at a later date for changes.

 

The Board and Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Manager, traveled to Henry County to meet with the Henry County Commissioners to discuss the landfill’s waste stream.
