DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JULY 23, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Monday, July 23, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, and Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Jean Ziegler, Clerk of Courts, submitted her report to the Board of Commissioners for the month of June, 2007.  Jean reported collecting legal fees of $12,636.03 and Title Fees of $5,332.53.  The Certificate of Title Administrative Fund is at $9,903.24.  Jean also reported deposits for the following: Legal Fees of $54,068.84 and Title Fees of $403,840.29.

 

Sales or Use and Dealers Tax collected was $372,757.92, Watercraft Tax Collected was $3,868.19.  The number of Titles issued was 2,238.  The number of Notation of Liens was 583, and the number of inspections was 465.

 

Jean issued 131 titles for new cars, 100 titles for motorcycles, 9 titles for motor homes, 1,300 used car title, 28 manufactured home titles,  1 bus title, 48 new truck titles, 15 trailer titles, 32 off-road vehicle titles, 426 used truck titles, 33 travel trailer titles, 88 watercraft titles and 27 van titles.

 

Jack Graf, Interim Director of Job & Family Services, updated the Commissioners on operations and personnel.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Board to discuss pending legal issues.

 

Karen Tubbs, County Treasurer, met with the Board for approval on Bond Anticipation Notes.  During the meeting, the Commissioners approved the issuance of Bond Anticipation Notes for the following:  $300,000 for the purpose of County Road and Bridge Repair; $1,300,000 for the purpose of acquiring and improving a building for County use; $20,250 for the purpose of constructing the Dowe Ditch Improvement Project; $30,705 for the purpose of constructing the Carryall Tile Improvement Project and $46,700 for the purpose of constructing the Peterson Ditch Improvement Project. 

 

The Commissioners received and opened Bid Proposals for the Defiance Senior Center Meal Delivery Vehicle under the FY06 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Formula Program.  One Bid Proposal was received as follows:  Mark Moats Ford-Mercury for $28,787.00.  Bid estimate is $32,000.00.
