DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Defiance County Administrator, met with the Commissioners for her weekly report and project updates. 

 

Laura provided the following department updates:

·         Wastewater.  Greg Reinhart reported they hung door knockers at Beldens for smoke testing and smoked later in the week, worked on Middle Gordon Creek’s timer, pump and motor starter and marked more tap locations for Auglaize River Sewer project. 

·         Maintenance.  Ron Cereghin reported that all parking lots have been restriped and handicap parking logos repainted, the wooden fence around Defiance County East cooling tower has been repainted, repaired door on tower building at Delaware Bend location, watering new trees at Defiance County East and Evergreen Lane Office complex and pressure washed the canopy at Evergreen Lane Office complex.   

 

Laura also informed the Board that in two years, the Defiance County prescription drug discount card program, in association with NACo, had 9,421 Defiance County prescriptions filled for a savings of approximately $84,648.00 for Defiance County residents.  A total of 4,922 residents used the card in the past two years.  The submitted retail price of these prescriptions totaled approximately $396,088.00; the percentage of price savings equaled 21.37%. 

 

Lois Kohout, Roger Mohr, Butler Mohr GMAC Real Estate, and Greg Reinhart, Defiance County Wastewater Operations Director, met with the Commissioners to discuss vacant lot tap fees for the Auglaize Sewer Project.  The Board reviewed the policy with Ms. Kohout and Mr. Mohr.
