DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 2, 2007  

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio on Thursday, August 2, 2007.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator and Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Jane Tadsen, Defiance County Recorder, reported recording 155 Deeds, 244 Mortgages, 214 Releases, 3 Power of Attorneys and 1 Soldiers Discharge.  The total of the month of July, 2007 was $29,576.00 of which $14,606.50 went toward the Housing Trust Fund and $14,969.50 went toward the General Fund.

 

Becky Wager, County Administrator, presented her report to the Commissioners.  Becky reported that the Maintenance Department is trenching at the Sheriff’s Office to separate the runoff water from the roof from the sewer and also replaced some galvanized water line with brass at the EMA building.  Becky also reported the she completed a mandated SERB health insurance survey and has been submitted the survey electronically to the State.

 

The Commissioners received the July 2007 report from Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden.  Randy reported investigating 151 complaints, made 361 personal contacts, issued 28 warnings, wrote 19 citations, and took 32 dogs to the shelter.

 

Randy also reported driving 2,464 miles during the month of July and took 2,360 pounds of euthanized animals to the landfill.   

 

Jack Graf, Director of Job & Family Services, met with the Commissioners in Executive Session to discuss union negotiations.
