DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 3, 2006

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio on Thursday, August 3, 2006.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Thomas L. Kime.  Also present were Commissioner’s Richard Cromwell, Otto L. Nicely; Becky Wagner, County Administrator, and Lyla Gurwell, Clerk. Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk, was in attendance at the Defiance location.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  Commissioners also reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

 

The Commissioners are announcing the next public meeting for the courthouse presentation with the Board of Commissioners will be held at 7:00 p. m. on August 8, 2006 at the Tinora Elementary School Cafeteria.

 

There is a courthouse presentation on the Defiance County Web site at www.defiance-county.com . You are able to view a Power Point presentation of the courthouse options as well as refer to photos of the current courthouse and annex building structures.

 

The Commissioners would also like to remind the residents of Defiance County that there is a Power Point presentations being shown on DC TV as well as HIX-TV.

 

There are two “Public Hearings” regarding Sales and Use Tax scheduled during the month of August.  Both meetings will be held at the Emergency Management Building in Brunersburg.  The first Public Hearing is scheduled for on August 7th at 11:00 a.m. and the second Public Hearing is scheduled for August 14th at 11:00 a.m.

 

The Defiance County Recorder submitted her report for July 2006.  According to Jane, there were 183 deeds recorded, 284 mortgages recorded, 223 releases recorded 8 power of attorneys recorded 1 soldier discharge and 2 leases recorded.

 

The total for the month of July was $35,046.75 of which $17,317 went into the Housing Trust fund and $17,729.75 went into the General Fund.

 

Ron Cereghin came in to discuss fertilizing and spraying for weeds around the Courthouse and Annex building.  

 

After reviewing the quotes for services, the Commissioners advised Ron to inform Weed Man from Defiance to move forward with this project.

 

Ron also spoke with the Commissioners about repainting the building where the roof was replaced at the Defiance County Regional Airport. The Commissioners advised Ron to discuss this with the Airport Authority Board.
