DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 2008 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio on Thursday, August 7, 2008. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, County Administrator and Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, provided her weekly update to the Board.  Laura presented a maintenance update and noted that the CSO liner for the entire length of Court Street will be installed on Thursday night and that the City of Defiance installed a flood gauge at Kingsbury Park.  Laura also noted that the revised Safety Flip Charts are completed.  The charts detail what employees should do in the event of an emergency and are specific to building locations.  The Commissioners will review the charts and Laura noted that the charts will be discussed at the next Safety Committee meeting on August 19th.

 

Tim Houck, Landfill Manager, and James Moseley of Mannik & Smith Group, Inc., met with the Board for the Bid Opening of the Landfill Geocomposite Liner Materials Bid.  Bids were received as follows: Johnston-Morehouse-Dickey Co, Bethel Park, PA - $102,396.00 and American Environmental Group, Richfield, OH - $97,470.00.  The Commissioners accepted the Bid Proposals for further consideration and upon the recommendation of Tim Houck; the Bids will be awarded at a later date.
