DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, AUGUST 9, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners for an update.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Warren presented his July 2010 Accumulated Revenue Report.  Warren reported that to date the accumulated revenue is $2,386,442.71 compared to $2,364,425.53 for 2009.    Warren informed the Board that he met on site along Ayersville Avenue last Wednesday with representatives from the Army Corp and the EPA to discuss the ditch relocation for road improvements.  Warren informed the Board Roadside grading work is continuing on Watson Road at Williams Road and Glenburg Road to the North County Line.  The cement stabilization contractor will begin work on Tuesday on Blosser Road and the microsurfacing contractor will begin work on Saturday on Behrens Road, Domersville Road and Bannerschool Road intersection, and Domersville Road and Elliott Road intersection. 

 

The Commissioners met with Dennis Miller to discuss the flood plain management plan. 

 

The Commissioners met with Dennis Miller, Maumee Valley Planning, Deb Gerken, NOCAC, Bill Small, First Federal Bank, and Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecutor in Executive Session to discuss possible pending litigation with no decisions being made in Executive Session. 

 

Jack Graf, Defiance County Job and Family Services Director, met with the Commissioners in Executive Session to discuss collective bargaining with no decisions being made in executive session.

 

The Commissioners recently received the July monthly report from Amy Galbraith, Defiance County Clerk of Courts.  Amy reported collections of $9,743.26 for legal and $17,855.14 in title and deposits of $89,333.58 in legal, $321,260.15 in title, $285,092.64 in sales or use and dealers’ tax, and $5,929.16 in watercraft tax.  Amy also reported issuing 1,788 titles, 313 notation of liens and 352 inspections.
