DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Marlene Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor, and Karen Tubbs, Defiance County Treasurer, met with the Commissioners to discuss computer issues.  The Commissioners approved a quote from CMI to research and fix the computer issue.

 

Laura Howell, Defiance County Administrator, met with the Commissioners for her weekly report and project updates.  Laura informed the Board that Julie Rittenhouse will be holding an open house of the EMA building on September 20th from noon to 7:00 pm to promote September as National Preparedness Month.  The Emergency Operations Center will be set up, and displays and giveaways will be present from public safety agencies.  More details will come at a later date.

 

Tina Hiler, Defiance County Senior Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Tina informed the Board that more than 450 people attended the ice cream social on August 5, 2010.  Tuesday, August 24, 2010 is Senior Day at the Defiance County Fair; there will be breakfast and lunch served by the Senior Center at the Fair.  Friday, August 20, 2010 will be a staff training day.  There will be no meals delivered that day—frozen meals will be delivered to the participants on Thursday. 

 

Toby Hood and Jayne Vandenburgh, Schooley Caldwell Associates, Josh Koenig, Koenig Security, and Bob Arend, Arend Enterprises, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Historic Jail Project.  Jayne will be researching furniture options for the project.
