DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 16, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Thursday, August 16, 2007  8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Cara Brown, Clerk and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

The Board Received the July, 2007 Activity Report from Jean Ziegler, Clerk of Courts. Jean reported collecting Legal Fees of $12,834.17 and Title Fees of $5,614.34. The Certificate of Administrative Funds is at $10,426.63. Jean also reported deposits for the following: Legal Fees of $108,420.94 and Title Fees of $446,276.98. The Sales or Use and Dealers Tax collected was $415,333.17 and Watercraft Tax collected was $5161.73. The total number of titles issued was 2,375, the number of Notation of Liens was 630 and the number of inspections was 501.

 

Jack Graf, Director of Defiance County Job and Family Services, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on Job and Family Services.

 

Morris Murray, Director of Defiance County Child Support Enforcement Agency, met with the Commissioners to discuss the hiring of a full time case manager. Mr. Murray and the Commissioners then entered executive session.

 

Mike Williams, Director of Defiance County Veteran’s Office, met with the Commissioners to discuss the 2006 Annual Report for the Veteran’s Office. A brief overview of the CHAMP Program (Comprehensive Health and Medical Program) was also given. In 2006 the total number of Veteran Service client contacts was 12,792. The Commissioners would like to thank the Veteran’s Board and staff for doing a great job for the veteran’s of Defiance County.
