DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, AUGUST 20, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Monday, August 20, 2007  8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Cara Brown, Clerk and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a brief update on the Farmer Mark ditch tile. A date will be set for the Engineer to have his reports submitted. Beginning September 1, 2007, the Engineer’s office will take over the responsibility of house numbering in Defiance County.

 

Jeff Ankney, Defiance County Soil and Water, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on the Penney Nature Center. A shelter house should be constructed and the parking area should be paved this year, weather permitting.

 

The Investment Advisory Committee with Karen Tubbs, County Treasurer met with the Defiance County Commissioners to review the Second Quarter 2007 Investment Portfolio.  Currently, all investments are in good order.  During the meeting, the Commissioners approved the Second Quarter 2007 Defiance County Investment Portfolio. The Landfill Closure and Post Closure portfolios were also approved.

 

Cheryl Brown, Defiance County Horse Council, met with the Commissioners to discuss the needs of the 4-H horse barn roof at the Defiance County Fairgrounds. The Commissioners advised they would take a look at the barn and talk with the Fair Board.
