COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2007
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session on Thursday,
August 23, 2007 8:30 a.m., in the
Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners,
500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.
Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk and
Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.
General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various
resolutions and documents for approval. The
Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and
events.

Wagner, County
Administrator presented
her weekly update to the Board. She reported she received a call from Jeff
Stone, City Wastewater Director, concerning an exposed phone cable at Carpenter
and Elliott roads. This cable will be buried. She also suggested that Ron
Cereghin be appointed to the Downtown Improvement District Rehabilitation Board
of Review, which the Commissioners approved. Julie Voll, Deputy Clerk and Mike
Moats of the Engineer’s office will coordinate the local census with the
federal census. The Attorney General’s office will hold a public training
session on House Bill 9 in the four county area. This training is mandatory for
elected officials and key staff members. The county auction will be held on
October 13, 2007 at 10:00A.M. at the Evergreen Lane Office Complex.
The Commissioners
then entered into Executive session to discuss the hiring of personnel with no
decision being made.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, Jane Tadsen, Defiance County Recorder, met with the
Commissioners to discuss document scanning. At this time, scanning and scanned
images will stay in the Defiance County Recorder’s office.
Julie Rittenhouse,
Emergency Management Director, met with the Commissioners to discuss the
departments’ need for vehicle. The Commissioners authorized Julie to proceed
with looking into purchasing a vehicle. Julie also presented the Flood
Mitigation Assistance Agreement for the Commissioners to review.
Becky
Wagner, County
Administrator, presented
the Commissioners with her resignation due to family health issues. The
Commissioners accepted her resignation.
