The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30
a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners
Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio
43512. Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely
and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and
Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
Pam Schroeder, Vicki
Bush, Tim Holtsberry, Board of Elections, and Russ Herman, Assistant
Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners to discuss the settlement from
the dispute amount Premier, Diebold, DIMS, the Ohio Secretary of State and
several Ohio counties relating to certain contracts for, and performance of,
electronic voting systems, equipment and services, and for voter registration
systems, equipment and services.
Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the
Commissioners for an update. Laura
provided a trending report of information submitted by the department heads. Laura provided the following details from the
report:
CSEA:
The 2010 collections and expenditures are lower than 2007, 2008 and 2009; while the caseloads are higher.
Commissioners:
From 2006 to 2010, $126,703.82 was received from
auctioned items through GovDeals.
Dog
Warden: Expenses have been lower than
revenue in 2008 and 2009.
Family
& Children First Council/Help Me Grow:
Revenues and expenses for both departments have decrease from 2007 due
to State budget cuts.
Tim Houck, Landfill Director, met with the
Commissioners for an update. Tim
reported total sales for July of $229,578.30 compared to $229,561.58 for July, 2009 and $148,780.67 in total expenses for July
compared to $248,705.15 for July, 2009.
The landfill collected 24,028 cubic yards (7,189.80 tons) in July
compared to 25,390 cubic yards (8,276.11 tons) in July,
2009.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved
and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar
of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Maumee Valley Planning Organization recently took quotes for the Hicksville
Land Office Roofing project. The
following quotes were received: Simon Construction $7,000.00; Yoder
Construction $8,975.00; Brown Construction, Inc. $11,070.00. The Estimate for the Project was
$7,000.00. The Commissioners awarded the CY 2009
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Formula Project – Hicksville Land
Office Roofing Project to Simon Construction in the amount submitted by them.
The Commissioners attended the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce
Back-to-School Breakfast at the Hicksville Exempted Village School.
