MONDAY, AUGUST 30, 2010
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Stephanie Metz, Clerk and Lanie Miller,
Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren
informed that Board that Stever Road south of Wisler Road will be closing on
Tuesday for a bridge replacement.
Roadside grading work is finishing up on Moser Road south of
Defiance-Henry County Line Road, Farmer Mark Road north of SR 18, and Glenburg
Road south of Defiance-Williams County Line Road. The next areas to have roadside grading are
Casebeer-Miller Road north of Defiance-Paulding County Line Road and Banner
School Road between Domersville Road and Moser Road. The Chip Sealing contractor completed their work
last week. The road painting contractor
will begin Tuesday and will complete work this week, weather permitting.
Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA) is holding a Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Innovative
Bridge System (GRS IBS) validation session in Defiance County the last two full
weeks in September and October. During
these sessions, Defiance County Highway will be replacing 3 bridges for the
attendees to see the process at various stages (Stever Road south of Wisler
Road, Mulligans Bluff Road between Blosser Road and SR 15, and Behnfeldt Road
between Beerbower Road and Scott Road).
FHWA is expecting 15-20 people per session and there are going to be 4
sessions.
There will be no
study session held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
