The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30
a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010 in the Hicksville Village Council Room,
Hicksville, Ohio. Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely
and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and
Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Laura Howell, Defiance County Administrator,
met with the Commissioners for her weekly report and project updates.
Ron Cereghin reported that the shelter barn roof has been installed and
final flashing will be completed today.
He is starting this week on the installation of A/C split systems in
computer rooms at Evergreen Lane Office Complex and waxing the floors at the
Senior Center. Ron scheduled Schindler to perform the five-year load test on
the courthouse elevator on Wednesday, September 8th beginning at
4:30 pm and will last approximately five hours.
Dennis Miller provided me with a copy of the
final approval letter from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the
Defiance County (Unincorporated) Flood Damage Reduction Regulations, attached.
ODNR has reviewed the adopted regulations for compliance with minimum National
Flood Insurance Program standards and stated that the Defiance County
regulations are compliant with minimum NFIP standards. Dennis Miller serves as
the Floodplain Administrator for Defiance County.
Matt Davis, Maumee Valley Planning
Organization, met with the Commissioners for a bid opening for the Farmer
Township Restroom Project. This project
is partially funded through the FY 2009 CDBG Formula Program. The pre-bid estimate was $76,000.00. The following bids were received: Duerk Construction, Defiance, Ohio -
$73,758.00; Birchwood Construction, Defiance, Ohio - $86,545.00; Schimmoeller
Construction, Kalida, Ohio - $69,699.00; RG Zachrich Construction, Inc.,
Defiance, Ohio - $73,425.00; McDonald Design and
Build, Defiance, Ohio - $62,883.00; Siebenaler Construction, Edon, Ohio - $74,375.00;
Midwest Contracting, Holland, Ohio - $68,610.00. The Commissioners took the bids under
advisement and will award at a later date, after review by Maumee Valley
Planning Organization and Farmer Township Trustees.
