DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2008

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioner James E. Harris, Jr., Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

The Commissioners passed a Resolution to abolish the following three (3) positions at Defiance County Job & Family Services: Classification 30121-Eligibility Referral Specialist I, Classification 10113-Clerk Specialist III and Classification 30131-Social Services Worker I. Due to current budget cuts and forecasted future cuts, the Job & Family Services Director along with consultation with the Local 1650 Bargaining Unit have recommended these cost cutting measures for the Department.

Tina Hiler, Director of Senior Services, met with the Commissioners for an update.

Greg Reinhart, Director of Defiance County Wastewater, met with the Commissioners for an update. Greg noted that spraying for weeds has been completed at the Defiance County Airport, Wastewater Treatment Plants and at the Pump Stations, cleaned up the weeds and fence at the Evansport Wastewater Treatment Plant and replaced the float at the EMA Pump Station. Greg also presented to the Commissioners Wastewater’s income and expense report for the month of August, 2008.
