DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Monday, September 17, 2007  8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Cara Brown, Clerk and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Megan Browning, RBC Capital Markets, met with the Commissioners to discuss the 2009 Review. Megan will be compiling a calendar for the Commissioners to review of the maturity dates of outstanding bonds.

 

Executive session was then entered into to discuss the hiring of personnel for the County Administrator position. Executive session ended with no decision being made.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide an update. Warren advised that Harding Road was re-opened late Friday evening, September 14, 2007. Beerbower Road will still be closed about another week or two. Crews have moved onto Mulligans Bluff Road to begin replacing a culvert. The chip sealing project is almost done and may be finished up this week.

 

Executive session was again entered into to discuss hiring personnel for the position of County Administrator. Executive session ended with no decision being made.

 

Greg Reinhart, Wastewater Operations, and Ken Magg, Poggemeyer Design Group, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on Beldens subsewer. Ken offered a few opinions for fixing the problems with the pumping station. Greg then submitted his report for August 2007. Greg helped Tim Houck, Environmental Services Director, out at the landfill to pump water out of the new landfill basin.  Greg also helped spray the weeds at Defiance County East.

 

Kim Moss, Health Commissioner, and Kent Martz, Environmental Health Director, met with the Commissioners to introduce Mr. Martz to the Board.

 

Judge Ruyle, Juvenile Judge, and Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners to discuss disposing of some of the Law Library’s books. Defiance College has expressed interest in several sets of books from the Law Library.
