COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2005
The Board of Defiance County
Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street,
Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512
on Monday September 19, 2005. The
meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely. Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Becky Wagner, Administrator, and Joanne Goerlitz,
Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners and other officials along with county
employees attended the Drug Free Workplace Training which is beneficial for
Workman’s Comp Training beginning at 7:30 this morning.
11:00 A.M. General Session Lyla Gurwell, Clerk, presented various resolutions, contracts
and documents for approval of the Commissioners. Commissioners also approved several travel
requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed
upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.
Commissioners discussed the 30 Year Debt Service for the
Indian Bridge Lane Sewer costs. The
Commissioners are reviewing billing options for the Debt Retirement and will
discuss further.
1:00 P.M. The Board met with Warren
Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer regarding the impending construction
of Elliott Road
between SR 66 and Carpenter Road. Warren
discussed a two-lane road with 24’ between edges of black-top with additional
curves and gutters on each side. Warren stated that there
would be a turn lane at Carpenter
Road with 3 lanes as well as a turn lane at the
west end of Elliott Road
closest to Meier. This project could bid
in November and could begin as soon as April of 2006 with an estimated
completion date of late September, weather permitting.
The County
Engineer talked about the
Bowman Road
and The Bend Road Projects. Both
projects are coming along. Warren stated that the Bowman Road
project, being constructed by R.G. Zachrich, should be complete by November
1. The Bend Road project awarded to George
Gradel, should be complete by October 15, 2005.
Mr. Schlatter confirmed the completion of the Issue II &
LTIP Paving of Various Roads within Defiance
County as well as the
chip seal projects within the County.
Also discussed the possibility of doing new Aerial Photos
this spring. The cost would be
approximately $36-40,000. Warren will discuss the
funding of this project with Defiance County Commissioners and the Defiance
County Auditor Marlene Goodwin at a later date.
