General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed, and updated the calendar of events.

Jerry Overmier came in to discuss testing the hydrants on the Defiance County East property.  This needs to be done as a safety measure to have fire projection to all of the buildings in that area.  This is also being done as part of the preplanning for the Senior Center that will be built at the property.

Defiance County Engineer, Warren Schlatter came in to update the Commissioners.  Warren stated there would be a pre-bid meeting for the Schick Road Canoe Launch on Thursday of this week at 11:00 a.m.

Wayne Olsson, Director of the Defiance County Board of Elections came in to talk with the Commissioners about funding issues.

Wayne came in to request the use of funding which was not spent earlier this year during the special election.  Wayne reported the state picked up a portion of the tab for the new voting machines and ID mailer, which allowed a portion of the initial funding to remain in the budget.

There are now additional expenses for the remainder of the year such as legal ads, poll-workers, printing ballots and employee salaries which Wayne is requesting the additional funding.  There will also be additional issues on the November ballot that will need to be advertised.  The Commissioners agreed to the request.

The Commissioners also held a study session to review financials, projects and leases.

Valerie Spears, Executive Director of the Northwest Community Corrections Center met with The Four County Joint Board of County Commissioners to elect two members to the Northwest Community Corrections Center – Search Program.  With the passage of HB 162, Community based correctional facilities will now be governed by a facility governing board; therefore, Commissioners from Fulton, Henry and Williams Counties met with the Defiance County Commissioners to elect the two members.
