DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners awarded the FY 2010 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Formula Project – Tile Mill Drive Street Improvements in the Village of Ney to Gerken Paving, Inc. in the amount submitted by them of $17,606.50.  Maumee Valley Planning Organization solicited quotes for the project; the only quote submitted was from Gerken Paving, Inc.  The estimate for the project was $19,000.00.

 

On the way back from Hicksville, the Commissioners met with Mike Walker, Sherwood Village Administrator, at Crystal Fountain Park.

 

Laura Howell, Defiance County Administrator, met with the Commissioners for her weekly report and project updates.  Laura provided the following department updates:

 

Wastewater.  Greg Reinhart reported that they worked on aeration at Middle Gordon Creek.  The Express sewer pump station pump was primed and back in operation with a new motor starter.

 

Environmental/Landfill.  Tim Houck reported that they distributed posters and badges to the local schools for the America Recycles Day on November 15th.  Tim stated that 150 cars brought material for disposal at the Household Waste collection event.

 

The Commissioners took Marlene Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor, and Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder, to tour the Historic Jail Building.

 

Jayne Vandenburgh, Schooley Caldwell Associates, met with the Commissioners, Marlene Goodwin and Cecilia Parsons, to review the furniture plan for the Historic Jail Project.
