DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2006

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Thursday, October 19, 2006.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present was Commissioner Otto Nicely, County Administrator Becky Wagner and Deputy Clerk Joanne Goerlitz.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed, and updated the calendar of events.

 

The Commissioners reported that they have received complaints from 4-H Members that they have not received their checks and vendors have not been billed for purchases for 4-H sales.  The Commissioners contacted the Fairboard to address these issues with them.

 

Jean Ziegler, Defiance County Clerk of Courts submitted her activity report for the month of September, 2006.  Jean reported the clerk fees collected for legal cases were $10,473, Title Fees were $5,332, and Certificate of Title Administrative Fees was $9,904.  Jean also reported Sales or Use and Dealers’ tax collected was $421,755, Watercraft Tax collected $1,543.22.   The number of titles issued was 2,464, the number of notation of liens written was 568, and the number of inspections was 635.

 

Jean also issued 115 new car titles, 35 motorcycle titles, 6 motor home titles, 1,618 used car titles, 69 new truck titles, 21 trailer titles, 28 off-road titles, 473 used truck titles, 17 travel trailer titles, 40 watercraft titles and 27 van titles.

 

Becky Wagner, County Operations Manger/Administrator presented her report to the Commissioners. 

Becky reported that “Cover your Cough” posters, provided by the Defiance County Health Department, were handed out at the Safety Meeting.  These posters will be posted at various locations to remind people to stop the spread of germs that make you and others sick by following the proper procedure when coughing or sneezing. 

 

Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden, came in for his monthly update.  Randy investigated 

140 complaints, and issued 19 warnings and 21 citations.  Randy also reported 45 dogs were taken to the shelter, and made 280 personal contacts. 

 

Randy also reported that the miles driven for the month of September was 2,546 miles and there was                     3,540 pounds of euthanized animals taken to the landfill.  Defiance Municipal Court – Court Fine Receipts was $624.00 for the month of September.

 

Kevin Hancock, District Technician from Defiance County Soil & Water came in to open bids for drainage improvements for the Mattock Ditch #01-02 located in Adams and Tiffin Townships.  Bids

received were as follows:  J & M Excavating, Cloverdale, OH - $52,210.00; Meck – Donald’s Contracting, Archbold, OH - $41,311.00; Zenz Farms, Delta, OH - $44,978.60; Sand Ridge

 

 

 

 

 

Excavating, Cloverdale, OH - $43,058.50; Dennis Panning Excavating, Deshler, OH - $45,813.30;  S.A. Sidle, Holgate, OH - $44,419.80 and Sloan Excavating & Trucking Co., LLC, Lyons, OH - $45,529.70.  The bids will be reviewed and taken under advisement.
