DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2005

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Monday October 24, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioner Richard L. Cromwell; Becky Wagner, Administrator, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

 

 

8:30 A.M.     General Session      Clerk, Lyla Gurwell presented various resolutions, contracts and documents for approval of the Commissioners.  Commissioners also approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

The Defiance County Human Office, Randy Vogel submitted his September report in writing to the Board of Commissioners.

 

Randy stated that his office received 166 complaints.  Defiance had 91, Hicksville reported 4 and Ney and Sherwood each reported 1 complaint each and the Townships reported 69 complaints.

 

Randy also reported that there were 43 dogs taken to the shelter, issued 22 warnings, issued 35 citations and made 358 personal contacts.

 

License sales submitted were 22 by agencies and shelters, 45 by the Auditor and 9 through penalties.

 

Randy reported that he covered 2,475 miles for the month of September and took 2,460 pounds of animals to the landfill.

 

In other business, the Commissioners would like to thank everyone who came out to the Open House this past Sunday Afternoon.  It was a great turnout and everyone had very positive comments about the new facility. 

 

10:30 A.M.    The Joint Board of Defiance County Commissioners and Paulding County Commissioners met in the County of Defiance in regular session today to award the Carry-All Ditch project.  On behalf of the Joint Board of Commissioners, Mr. Kevin Hancock, Technician for the Defiance County Soil and Water Conservation District, awarded the job to Shininger Surface Drainage/ Andy Zimmerman, a Joint Venture who submitted a bid on October 17, 2005 of $168,615.32.
