COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2010
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2010 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas L.
Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Stephanie Metz,
Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners approved a contract with Gerken Paving, Inc. for the
FY 2010 CDBG Formula Project – Tile Mill Drive Street Improvements in the
Village of Ney, a contract with Dave York Sports, Inc. for the Defiance County
Fairgrounds Grandstand Installation Project, and a contract with Julian and
Grube, Inc. for GAAP Accounting Services for the Auditor’s Office.
Dennis Miller, Maumee Valley Planning Organization, met with the
Commissioners to discuss Chelsea Village.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners
for an update. Warren informed the Board
that Mulligans Bluff Road and Behnfeldt Road is still closed for bridge
replacements.
Julie Voll, Family & Children First/Help Me Grow, met with the
Commissioners for an update. Julie
informed the Board that the caseload is 26 at-risk, 3 home visiting and 44 part
C, compared to 30 at-risk and 38 part C in 2009. The Early Childhood Screening dates have been
set for February 28, 2011 in Hicksville and March 7, 2011 in Defiance.
The Commissioners attended the Four County Solid Waste District meeting
in Fulton County.
The Commissioners recently received the Monthly Activity Report from
Amy Galbraith, Clerk of Courts. Amy
reported collecting $8,496.79 in legal and $17,298.31 in title and depositing
$118,953.10 in legal and $317,762.82 in title.
Amy also reported collecting $328,533.60 in sales or use and dealers’
tax and $1,213.78 in watercraft tax.
There were 1,357 titles issued, 373 notations of
liens, and 343 inspections.
